Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei Vol.19 (Manga review)

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei Vol.19

"Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei," created by Koji Kumeta was concluded in 2012. However, many of messages in this Manga are still alive.

Currently, free reading of this manga is available on Magapoke App (only Japanese available.) Magapoke is an official app by Koudansha, the publisher of this manga. Free reading is available until the end of April.

This manga was created during 2005~2012, so there some episodes about novel flu. Now SARS-CoV2 has been spread all around the world, and the stories about the novel flu in 2009 look fresh. Especially, "Recommendation to be closed," chapter 183 in vol.19 (in Japanese edition) suits today's condition without a sense of incongruity.

First, Nami Hitou (her name is an anagram of "hitonami" which means an ordinal personality) shows up being bored so much. She is locked down in her home because of flu spread.

What I would like to feature is Manami Okusa sewing masks! She is in poverty, so she is working at home. Even now in the real world, masks are on severe demand all around the world. This condition might be real somewhere.

The story is about visiting a Ramen shop without going outside. For the purpose, Nami and Rin (a rich girl in the class) literally "make the way" buying and destroying neighboring homes. They must not go outside because Chiri Kitsu (her name is an anagram of "kicchiri" which means being tight) will come to beat them. She is behaves peculiarly when she gets mad.

This chapter is a bit special because it lacks characteristics of "Zetsubou-Sensei": enumeration, the fixed phrase "I'm in despair!," and the main heroine Kafka Fura (P.N.). Koji Kumeta might be upset because of flu.

Reading news coming up again and again, I feel like reading episodes about them in "Zetsubou-Sensei" if possible.

Of course, Koji Kumeta's new work, "Kakushigoto" seems very funny. So I am already happy, though.

TV animation "Kakushigoto" is now on air (in Japan)!
