Italian stories
Manga whose stage is Italy is attractive.
I would like to two mangas: "GUNSLINGER GIRL" and "THERMAE ROMAE."
The themes of the two works are totally different, but their main stage is Italy.
"GUNSLINGER GIRL" is a story of little girls who became cyborgs fighting against terrorists. So, the manga illustrates contemporary wars and technologies in the near future.
"THERMAE ROMAE" is a story of a bath engineer in the Roman Empire.

I have never been to Italy. I learnt Italian a bit in high school (I only remember "Grazie!"). "Scialla!", an Italian film about the bond between a father and a son was very impressive.
I have never watched "GUNSLINGER GIRL" anime, but "Tatta Hitotsu no Omoi" by KOKIA is one of my favorite anime songs.
Italy has a long history, and also somehow easy familiarity. This is what makes Italy in my favor.
